Sam is the founder and lead plasterer at Samas Design. Born in New Mexico, he combines a background in Civil and Sustainable Engineering with years of hands-on experience in the building trades. He has trained with leading plasterers in the US and abroad, blending art, architecture, and material science to create durable, non-toxic, and timeless finishes that highlight the beauty of natural materials. When he’s not plastering, he’s hiking, traveling, or relaxing in a hammock.

Originally from the Ohio Valley, Ian followed his passion for the trades and sustainable building to New Mexico, where he immersed himself in the art of natural plaster. Skilled in multiple trades and known for his quality workmanship, he approaches every project with curiosity, care, and a deep respect for this timeless craft. Outside of work, you’ll find him hiking New Mexico’s trails, swimming in cool mountain lakes, or carving wooden spoons by hand.​

A New Mexico native from The Pueblo of Laguna, Keith came to Samas with a deep passion for art and craft. Drawn to the beauty of the plaster trade, he has dove in while bringing his talent for photography to help document and showcase the work we create. A skilled craftsman across multiple trades, Keith approaches every project with curiosity, creativity, and a desire to keep learning. When he's not plastering, you'll find him behind the camera, traveling with his family, or buying a new tool.
